GM has recently created an outrageous promotion for the Chevy Sonic at the famous Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. It involves the world’s biggest 3D projection and the world’s biggest claw game.

The Guinness World Record-holder for the world’s biggest claw game is the ultra-cool interactive projection mapping event that took place this month at L.A.’s Roosevelt Hotel. The campaign, a promotion for the Chevrolet Sonic, involved a giant joystick, a projected claw, and the chance to win real-life prizes including, naturally, a new car. Watch it in action below.

What really makes this cool is that the claw picks up a 3D version of the car for the lucky winner. Not only that, the 3D version of the car turns into a real version of the car after the projection has been “dropped”. You have to see it to believe it.

Re-creating the old school, prize-grabbing claw game, an interactive, human-sized joystick will be set up in front of Hollywood Boulevard’s famous Roosevelt Hotel, allowing passers-by to take control of the joystick and direct the giant claw towards one of many prizes designed for adventurous, thrill-seeking consumers, including a new car. One lucky winner will walk away with the grand prize 2012 Chevy Sonic.

WHAT: As part of a live commercial shoot, Chevy and Pearl Media will deploy an interactive claw game the size of the Roosevelt Hotel, attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Claw Game and offering consumers the chance to grab for their favorite prizes, including a brand new car!

WHO: Chevy Sonic, the most fun-to-drive small car, and Pearl Media, a non-traditional media and production company specialized in creating unique, targeted, groundbreaking out-of-home experiences for leading brands.

WHEN: Friday, December 16, from 8:00 pm PST to 11:00 pm PST and Saturday, December 17 from 8:00 pm PST to 11:00 pm PST.

WHERE: On Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Roosevelt Hotel, 7000 Hollywood Blvd. There will be a partial street closure where the giant claw game is taking place at Orange Drive.
