Disinfectants are mainly the substances which are applied to non living substances to kill or destroy the disease causing bacteria or pathogenic bacteria. These do not kill 100% bacteria but these are highly effective in reducing the number of bacteria.

A hospital is a source of a wide range of bacteria and other diseases causing micro organism, as people suffering from many types of diseases come there. Therefore, there is a high risk of transmission of diseases and thus, hospital disinfectants are used to kill those disease causing bacteria. A hospital disinfectant is different from antiseptics or antibiotic which are used in human tissues.
