Tegrity, provider of the leading Web 2.0 Class Capture System to the higher education market, announced today the results of a study from Coppin State University (CSU) of Baltimore that shows Tegrity Campus 2.0 increases both student academic performance and retention.

The CSU study was conducted by Dr. Chris Brittan-Powell, who designed a causal-comparative or ex post facto research approach, comparing student performance across different sections of the same course (Psychological Assessment) altering only course delivery format. The three delivery formats utilized included face-to-face (F2F), face-to-face with Tegrity (F2F+T), and fully online with Tegrity (FO+T). The Psychology Assessment course is an advanced capstone course with very demanding, conceptual, detailed, and statistically-oriented content.

The research report said, "[The Tegrity solution] makes the static online course model more dynamic and provides the instructor more resources (e.g., time) to attend to class management issues and monitor students' progress more closely via the CMS and Tegrity reports on student viewing of lecture material." According to the research, there was a slight increase in student grades between the F2F and F2F+T groups.

The study also examined the impact Tegrity had on student retention and found that Tegrity had a positive impact. Student retention was 71 percent in F2F sections, 83 percent in F2F+T sections, and 86 percent in FO+T. Qualitatively, Dr. Brittan-Powell also found that Tegrity fits with the lives of CSU students, many of whom face notable life demands such as work and family responsibilities outside the classroom that affect their study skills and academic performance. He also noted his belief that the ease of use and flexibility Tegrity lends to student schedules contributes to its positive impact on student grade and retention.

"When educators experience the power and simplicity of Tegrity Campus 2.0, the educational benefits Tegrity delivers to students become readily apparent," said Tegrity President & CEO Isaac Segal. "With Tegrity, students can instantly retrieve the exact content they need in seconds, anywhere, anytime. Both CSU's research and our customers report improvements in student performance and retention with Tegrity, and student achievement is what it's all about."

The only Web 2.0 solution, Tegrity Campus 2.0 requires no user software or hardware installation. To assure a successful deployment, Tegrity Campus includes integrated governance tools that ensure a measurable impact on students, faculty, and program utilization. Institutions can quickly generate their own tangible evidence of Tegrity's measurable impact on learning and the strategic goals of their institution, this realization made simpler through the company's currently available full-semester, single-class free trial of Tegrity Campus 2.0.

The limited-time free trial offer launched in conjunction with the new Tegrity "Think Outside the Box" advertising campaign, in which the company invites colleges and universities to try its innovative approach with no risk to their institutions. With Tegrity Campus 2.0, all that's required to get started is a laptop computer and an internet connection.

The company's accelerating momentum has been fueled by the CSU research, receipt of "Best in Category" and "Top 10 in Customer Satisfaction" Learning Impact awards from the IMS Global Learning Consortium, and a near-perfect record of customer retention, which further underscores the measurable impact of Tegrity Campus 2.0 on student engagement and achievement.

"Our team has done a great job collaborating with our customers, continuously enhancing our strong product line, and delivering powerful solutions to the higher education market," said Segal. "Interaction and collaboration with our customers are key drivers of our momentum."

Unlike other available products, Tegrity Campus 2.0 requires no software installation by instructors and no bulky hardware, allowing for immediate deployment across an entire campus and making Tegrity the only truly scalable solution for class capture. A simple one-click play and record function makes recording classes and lectures effortless, resulting in hundreds of thousands of hours of recordings across virtually any discipline. Students are provided with a personalized study system that includes searchable recordings of every class by logging in to Tegrity Campus 2.0 directly or through any secure web page, portal, CMS or SIS used by their institution, giving them access anywhere at anytime.
