Businesses could make consumers pay up big time this year. Last week s poll showed the majority of businesses are already changing spending in anticipation of a possible recession. However, that is not all they are doing to make up for potential shortfalls.

This week s question from infoUSAPoll.com, Will you increase your prices in 2008? was posted to U.S. businesses. Over a thousand respondents, (1,212 or 57%) said yes, they would raise their prices. Increased pricing does not mean increased service. Consumers may end up getting less for their money as businesses strive to maintain growth in a tough economy. Another third of business respondents (598 or 30%) said they would not raise prices.

infoUSAPoll.com emails a survey question to poll participants each week via the Internet. Topics include the economy, computer usage, outlook for the future, common headaches of running a business, growing their business, political issues and much more. This weekly poll takes the pulse of businesses and executives and gives them a chance to voice their opinion on issues and problems they collectively face. Results are released each Monday.
